HARMAN technology has announced it is to bring forward the launch of the third product in its range of pioneering professional inkjet papers, following a growing demand for a gloss finish from photographers all over the world. The HARMAN PHOTO MATT FB Mp launched this February and the warmtone equivalent launched in May have already had a big impact since their arrival in the marketplace, and such is the demand for a gloss product that HARMAN has changed its launch schedule.
Howard Hopwood, marketing director at HARMAN technology commented: “Ever since we unveiled the HARMAN PHOTO prototypes at Photokina last year, people have been very keen to see the gloss product, but interest has heightened further since photographers have got their hands on the matt product.”
“The initial launches have created a real buzz around the range, and since the gloss product is very near completion, we didn’t want to keep people waiting any longer than absolutely necessary.”
Like its predecessors in the range, the new HARMAN PHOTO GLOSS FB Al product incorporates real photo Baryta, which enhances colour definition, tonal range and archival properties. The new paper also uses Alumina technology to offer a sharp, smooth and robust gloss finish that helps to bring both colour and black and white images to life.
Howard Hopwood continued: “We have spent a long time developing this product, and we are very pleased with the outcome. I am confident that the new paper will be well received, and we are already developing a warmtone version for launch in the Autumn.”
At 320gsm, the fibre-based paper emulates the look, feel and weight of a traditional photographic print; something that has been a key goal for the HARMAN development team. Unique anti-curl technology has also ensured that the paper lies completely flat before and after printing, and as a nanoporous product the paper air-dries evenly.
Although HARMAN is yet to announce a formal launch date, the product will hit shelves in the UK, USA and Canada in July, with A4, A3, A3+, A2+ and rolls available.
